“What (normally) happens to that shipping box? People throw them away,” Ms. Wiela says. Now, customers who order from Ms. Wiela's other business — an online shoe store called StyleUpGirl.com — will get a shipping label along with their order. They can put donations inside the shipping box and use that label to send it to Goodwill Industries. So far, two other companies — the Newegg.com computer store and KarmaLoop clothing — are sending GiveBackBox labels to their customers, too. And people can also print a shipping label at the GiveBackBox website after making a donation of at least $1. Over the holiday season, Goodwill received about 150 packages through the program, says Ms. Wiela, who hopes to sign up Amazon.com and other large retailers to participate. “I want to get tons of donations,” she says.
