ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE — The White House says President Barack Obama still plans to fly to Poland for the funeral of its president, but officials are closely watching a flying ash problem associated with a volcano in Iceland.
Speaking to reporters Thursday, Deputy White House Press Secretary Bill Burton said, "It's something that we're keeping an eye on. Right now, our schedule is still on."
Travel plans for thousands of U.S. airline passengers have been disrupted because of the widespread closure of European airports. Obama is scheduled to fly to Poland Saturday to attend a funeral service for President Lech Kaczynski (lekh kah-CHIN'-skee), who was killed with more than 90 other people when his plane crashed last week in western Russia.
